Low inventory, persistent inflation, and high mortgage rates continue to weigh heavily on the luxury real estate market in 2023, and in the past year, sales of multimillion-dollar properties have seen a dip.

There is some optimism, though, as the demand for trophy homes remains strong, if not as brisk as it has been in the last few years. The country’s most expensive listing, a penthouse in Manhattan, may have received a massive 22 percent price reduction, but San Francisco recently had its priciest deal of the year go down when buyers snapped up a $34.5 million estate in Presidio Heights. Palm Beach has seen its fair share of headline-making transactions this year, with sales setting a new $170 million benchmark, and in Malibu, Jay-Z and Beyoncé dropped a record-shattering $200 million on an architectural estate by architect Tadao Ando.

Robb Report scoured all 50 states (plus Washington, D.C.) to compile our list of the most expensive homes on the open market. We took stock of which homes continue to reign supreme, along with some surprising new additions. A Neverland-inspired manse in Alaska? Or how about a $75 million compound on Washington’s San Juan Island? Here’s a look at the country’s priciest residences from coast to coast.
